Mary Pargas has been drawing and painting and decorating and illustrating in one form or another for longer than she'd care to reveal. She earned a B.F.A. in Fine Art from California State University, Long Beach in 1979, so you can do the math.
Her two daughters, Marlie Jane and Madalyn, are also artists. This is probably not coincidence yet it continues to cause them much amazement and joy.
Madalyn Pappas is currently a student at MassArt in Boston studying Industrial Design. She could have gone the easy route and majored in painting but she prefers a challenge. She already paints like a dream and it's helping to pay her tuition.
Mary's first decorative walls were for Marlie's nursery. She designed stencils and bordered the room with bluebirds, hearts and flowers. She firmly believes that contributed to her firstborn's sunny disposition and artistic sensibility. Madalyn painted her own room, completely and neatly, at an early age. She assists Mom with the interior painting work when available and runs PaintyPETs!, offering contemporary custom portraits of pets.
